Equity Committee
Eliminating disparities
The Equity Committee advises and makes recommendations to the Austin/Travis County Homelessness Response System Leadership Council. Meetings are open to the public, and all are encouraged to attend to share subject matter and/or lived expertise. The committee’s voting members include people with lived experience of homelessness, equity advocates, direct service provider staff, and other advocates working to end homelessness in our community.
This committee meets monthly on the second Thursday.
Purpose & Responsibilities
-
Purpose
The purpose of the Equity Committee is to eliminate racial disparities within the Homelessness Response System (HRS), to increase the safety and accessibility of the HRS to LGBTQ+ clients, and to address intersections of marginalization of groups that would not be served equitably without explicit focus.
Specific priorities are updated yearly in the Leadership Council Roadmap.
